Three ways to blend CuppaCare Sips into your staff learning programmes

Using the free CuppaCare Taster app with your staff is a great way to promote a culture of learning in your workplace. The Sips are a starting point for care workers to discuss their knowledge and skills, as well as build opportunities for informal learning on a day-to-day basis. You can also use the CuppaCare Taster app to support formal learning practice. Here are three ways to embed CuppaCare into your professional development programme:

Induction - Every Sip is on an everyday care task or topic, and is linked to the Care Certificate Standards. In your free Taster app the Sip on ‘Dementia Care: Help with Food’ supports three Standards:

  • Standard 5: Work in a person-centred way
  • Standard 8: Fluids and Nutrition
  • Standard 9: Awareness of mental health, dementia and learning disabilities.

Using the Sip with your careworkers can help them evidence how they put care values into practice, building their own examples of responding to changing needs, eating difficulties, nutrition, and understanding dementia.

Classroom training – Plan, track and review an individual careworker’s learning from Sips. Use the Sips to identify knowledge gaps and to help set learning objectives together with the careworker. Track their Sip progress as a part of their wider learning activities. In supervisions you can review their learning outcomes from the Sips to help plan new learning objectives.

Qualifications - Monitoring Sip progress can help you and your care staff identify the most beneficial qualifications for them.
